Maya and Daddy Adventure Day

Dear Mai,

Today was Presidents Day. You know what that means?!?!?! MAYA AND DADDY FUN DAY!!

I'm not used to getting all these Holidays off of work. It works out though because your daycare is closed on these days too. Unfortunately Mommy is usually stuck at work. So what do we do? We like to have a Maya and Daddy fun day. Now, it has been a bit cold and rainy here in my beloved Seattle but today was one of those rare "winter" days where it was spring like. 60+ degree and full sun. We upgraded a fun day to an adventure day!

You love catching a bus. That works out because we only own one car right now. So if we were going to do anything, bus it is. We headed out of the house early after bath time. Okay, early for you and I was about 9:30 am, but whatever. Who's judging. I was a little worried because we left the house without breakfast. I figured we stop for some late breakfast. In the meantime, the next best thing than riding the bus is eating snacks ON the bus. I grabbed a pack of Mama's beloved "Pretz" snack and small back of "Daddy Cereal" and we were off!

Two buses and half a bag of Daddy cereal out of the way, we arrived at the Junction! Of course our record store / cafe had a waiting list. 40 minutes! I felt bad! I felt like I was starving my poor child! PRETZ to the rescue!!! We killed the rest of the time by a little walk outside and then perusing through some records. I almost bought a Sigur Ros album and you said no!

"We don't need TWO records with NO record player!"

Okay fine. You're right. I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll get a record player before I start filling in my collection. (To those that care, we bought our first record together last week. The Frozen soundtrack. Again, don't judge me)

Finally we got our table and chowed down some grub. The rest of the day was spent just lollygagging around the Junction. We hit the toy store and 3 other stores in search of flower petals. Nuthin. I want to get some for you to practice so you aren't a complete beast at cousin Adam's wedding in May. You were a pretty good girl so our treat for the day was ice cream! I got a root beer float and you tried it. Your first taste of this lovely concoction called a root beer float. You thought it was super yummy but you kept screaming this aloud in the cafe:

"I'm drinking BEER!"

Daddy: "ROOT beer! you're drinking ROOT beer!"

Maya: (evil little giggles)

You are so you're mother's daughter too. When we were at Easy Street Cafe eating breakfast you refused to sit on your chair because it was "broken." Little priss.

Just so you know, you aren't always sunshine and roses as I portray here in this blog. Don't get me wrong, you're a good kid for the most part but... you're still a kid. You'll seen in this video a few taxing scenes from our day. One, it takes us seven thousand minutes to travel 1 block. "I'm a lizard! I'm a frog! I'm frozen!" Whatever kid just move it along. Two, you were singing all day long. You finally saw frozen for the first time a few weeks back and you loved it. We've watched it about 1 gazillion times since then. I have to admit you are super cute when you sing the songs. But yet again as soon as I ask you to sing and try to capture this cute little moment, I capture the non-singing, sarcastic, I like testing your patience version of the song. Jerkypants.

BUT... at the end of the day, we had a blast. It was a good day. I can't wait until our next Maya and Daddy adventure goofbutt!

Love,

Daddy
