Life outside the house

Maya and family ventured outside for the first time this weekend. Mommy and Daddy figured out the whole stroller / car seat / flux capacitor setup and went for a few walks. It was finally sunny and somewhat warm in Seattle over the weekend.

We even got our first target visit in!

Notice the copious amount of room around her head. Poor little thing's head gets tossed all around driving up and down these hills. As were were in Target I spotted this!

Genius! I thought!  After a quick observation of the picture we realized that this is just another baby product scam. It's a rachet out there.  Um, we have a plethora of blankets thank you very much, we can do this ourselves.

Yes we realize it doesn't look exatly like the advertised product but it's a work in progress. Give us a break.

We even got a trip to the junction and Metropolitan Market in, all of which Maya was sound asleep for... you know, so she can rest up for her nights of partying. (she has actually been getting better at night. we're still tired as heck but it could be worse)

Maya also had some visitors this weekend.

Courtney is apparently the baby whisperer and had her asleep in minutes.

He must have a magic thumb. (He apparently also has an eye for the camera shot too, photos courtesy of him)

Maya and V also got some quality time in as well.

Becky, Shawn and Lorelei also stopped by and caught us in that state of "am I sleeping? Is this real or a dream?" so no pictures from that visit.

Big thanks out to Courtney, V and the Shraders for keeping us fed and in contact with other human lifeform during these first days!

Maya even got to get some qualify facetime action in with Grandma Diane!

Thank goodness for technology, right? It was so cute, Maya recognized her voice right away... or maybe she just recognized her Maya Papaya song. :)

All in all it has been a good weekend. There have been highs and lows. It's nice to hear from our friends and family reassuring us that all is normal and we aren't completely screwing this kid up already. Daddy is back at work tomorrow so we'll see what this week brings. One thing is for certain; raising a child is tiring.

Even for the furry kids.
